Hoping this post finds everyone happy in their creative endeavors and soulful journey in life.
I just want to give everyone an update on the studio. As some of you know, Mud Doll Studios originated in Washington state. In 2023, we moved to Arizona and I haven't fired any new pottery or sculptures since the move. The new studio is not equipped with 220 power. We planned to have it installed shortly after we moved but then found we needed something more important, good water. We are on well water here at our new place and there are so many strong minerals in the water here, we decided to put in a new water system first, as well as several upgrades to the actual house. That put my 220 power on the back-burner for a while. As I wait, I started unpacking and arranging the studio. It quickly filled up with all kinds of treasures because like many artists and crafters, I am a borderline hoarder with supplies, tools and equipment. Since we have good weather here in AZ for the majority of the year, we have decided that we'll build a kiln-port (think carport) outside of the studio and add the 220 power outside so in the hot months, the kiln can fire outside while I enjoy the airconditioned air in the studio.
At this point, we still have a few other projects ahead of the kiln-port so as I continue to wait patiently, I have been working with other mediums such as watercolor, acrylics and paper-mediums. For those who enjoy all art, I hope that these posts are as welcome as the pottery posts. For those only interested in pottery, my apologies for the deviation and please know that ultimately, pottery is still on the table and waiting for the kiln to finally be set up and firing again.
Best wishes always,
Judy - Mud Doll
